The next generation

Your clients’ children usually meet their parents’ adviser when the estate is being settled. By then most of them already have someone else in mind. The Hub introduces you years earlier.

What does a son or daughter see when they log in?

Their own place in the family tree, and a message thread with you. A question about a first pension or a house deposit comes to you rather than a search engine.

The family’s finances stay private. The Hub just tells them there’s more that will open to them later, without saying what.

Who decides what they can see?

The parents. Plenty of families will share a website, but few will show their children the figures, so there are two views.

A partner usually gets everything and a child usually gets the family picture, which has no figures in it. A solicitor or accountant only sees the part that concerns them.

Why would a 30-year-old log in?

Mostly for the learning. There’s a library of short films on things families ask about, like what happens to a pension when someone dies, how lifetime gifts work and why you’d write a will.

There’s also Money at Our Table, a podcast for younger listeners. Episodes run to a few minutes and the first one is about your first payslip.

They can ask the Hub questions in plain English too. It only answers from what that person is allowed to see.

When does it pay off?

Sometimes not for years, when the estate passes and the children already know who you are.

Often sooner. A daughter buying her first house, or a son with three old workplace pensions, will usually ask the adviser they’ve been messaging rather than start from scratch.

On a demo we’ll open the same family’s Hub twice, once as a parent and once as their son.
